Cheap Hot Tubs Aren’t Cheap in the Long Run—Here’s Why

Buying a hot tub isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. You’re going to take many factors into consideration when deciding on what model to buy. It’s likely that cost will be among the top three factors. Hot tubs can be expensive to run and maintain but if you’re smart about it you can save on costs in the long run.

The first cost anyone associates with a hot tub is the price tag. We all love a deal, but cheaper isn’t always better. Getting swayed by a bargain-basement-price model could cost you a lot later on. There are many reasons why those models are priced that low, including poor materials and inefficient functioning. That’s why we recommend shelling out a bit more for a quality product (like one of our spas).

Quality Hot Tubs Aren’t Cheap

It’s no secret that cheaper products usually fall short in the quality department. There’s a chance that low cost hot tubs could be produced in unregulated markets with questionable materials that degrade faster than expected. This problem is compounded by the fact that cut price manufacturers sometimes don’t supply spare parts, making maintenance a nightmare.

We believe hot tubs are meant to last a lifetime, and we’ve kept that in mind while designing our spas. Our products are manufactured entirely in the UK, guaranteeing that parts are easily available. The spas are one piece of moulded polyethylene, including the shell and cabinet. This structure ensures that the spa never rots, de-laminates or rots, and stays strong. What’s more, the shell and cabinet structures of the hot tubs have a lifetime warranty; the electrical components have a two-year warranty and the installation and associated labour has a one-year warranty.

Safety of the Spa

At RotoSpa, we know that an enjoyable hot tub experience means a safe hot tub experience. It’s possible that cheaper spas might not prioritize safety as much as quality products. Our hot tubs and accompanying maintenance services will ensure you have a safe, hygienic experience every time.

Long-Term Costs

Like we mentioned earlier, the price tag is just the first of many costs associated with owning a hot tub. You’re going to spend on power, chemicals and maintenance over the years. A cheaper hot tub will cost you more in these areas because it runs inefficiently and is probably made of poor-quality materials.

Insulation is an important feature in a spa. Poor insulation means the water will cool quickly and need more electricity to stay warm. We’ve ensured our spas have effective insulation which means 75% less energy usage compared to other companies. The insulation is in the base, shell and exterior walls of the spa, which creates a thermal cavity in the middle of the hot tub. This stops heat loss and keeps electricity consumption minimal.

The SpaNet controllers use software and algorithms to determine your spa use and help you run the hot tub on the lowest possible daily cost. The thermostat adapts the heating cycles to match the spa usage. So there aren’t as many on-off cycles of the heater and filtration pumps, leading to considerable energy savings and less daily wear-and-tear of the equipment.

Peace of Mind With RotoSpa

When you buy a high-quality hot tub, you know that you’re getting your money’s worth, whether that’s in term of the actual product or the customer support services and warranties. We’ve done our best to create hot tubs that are easy to enjoy and maintain. The features include programmable sleep timers, corrosion resistant heater and optical water sensing. The SmartLink wifi controller lets you to monitor the water temperature and control the spa from anywhere in the world.

What’s more, if you buy our products, you won’t have to worry about re-installation costs if you’re moving because our spas are lightweight and portable. Unlike other hot tubs where you’d have to pay uninstallation and reinstallation costs, our spas can travel with you without any hassle.

Let the Buyer Beware

It is possible to find a budget hot tub that won’t cost you too much in the long run, but you must do your homework. Here’s a list of items to ask for before buying:

A detailed, written warranty that covers at least one year

Information on installation and running costs. For the latter, ask for a certified, independent report

Proof of suction outlet safety

A list of spare parts suppliers

Hopefully, this helps you in your decision making. When you’re ready to buy, check out our products and give us a call. We’d love to provide you the best spa, with far more economical long term costs than other brands.
